Time for a detox...

I am really horrible at keeping a journal. My poor child(ren) won't have a record of all of the crazy things I have done.
I'm starting anew...and this is my journal. I'm too lazy to write, so I'll probably just print these pages and stick them in a binder and call it good. Along with regular journal (blog) entries, I have decided to attempt a 10 day full body detox. I've officially gained my married woman 30 lbs and cut my hair short (both things I promised never to do to my husband). Today I'm making a change. Headed towards a healthy mind and body, and hopefully preparing myself for motherhood!?

Detox step 1: Saltwater "flush". So disgusting, but I am sipping on pure sea salt in warm water as I type...I'll post my "results" tomorrow!

Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Brendan's birthday at my parents house last Saturday. I met this really cool woman at a business meeting that just opened a new bakery on 79th and Sandy, called Pastrygirl. It's a super cute place, and she can make a cake into anything you could imagine....what kind of a cake does a 14 year old want?? An ipod! It turned out so cute and we had a really great time snapping photos of it. As far as the taste, it was as yummy and sweet as it looks!

In my time off work, I have found that I have a love for cooking and baking. I am finally able to use all of the wonderful wedding gifts Charlie and I received. Yesterday, I followed this recipe I saw on the food network show -Barefoot Contessa. These maple oatmeal scones are to die for!

Going for the Gold!

I had an amazing opportunity to hear Olympic Gold Medalist Bonnie Blair speak. She is amazing, and it was so great to see her in person. She stopped by Portland on her way to Vancouver. She signed autographs for a bit after her presentation. What a great woman!

Kyle turns 2!!!

We all went to build-a-bear for Kyle's birthday, and then back to mom and dad's for a circus party! What a great birthday...can you believe Kyle is 2??

Skiing at Mt. Hood Meadows

We took Marin and Emily to ski school for a couple of hours and got a few runs in ourselves. There hasn't been much snow at the mountain this year, so we are taking what we can get. It was actually a great day to ski. Both Marin and Emily are great! They loved it, and we got them on a lift by the end of the day. No injuries...not even Charlie.

Christmas Eve

It was a bit different (and quiet) this year, since Kevin and his family were in New Jersey and Paul and his family went to Brazil. We had a rather scaled down Christmas eve. Never fear....we had fun! Instead of our usual gift exchange we decided to take the money we would have spent and adopt a family and provide a Christmas for them. It was an AMAZING experience. We still did the gift exchange, but exchanged home-made gifts and services. It was great to see what everyone came up with!

We also started a new tradition....the Christmas Eve headstand contest!
